This course is set at a basic level, is very practical and is based on “The Streetwise Subbie”, emphasising commercial awareness, record keeping, site diaries, giving of delay notices, reasons why needed, protection from commercial disaster etc

A more “senior level” course, emphasising the actual job, concentrating on “real life” problems, protection and getting paid, programme pitfalls, securing extensions of time, loss and expense entitlements, recording and maximising of variations, good and bad correspondence etc.

Protecting the Sub-contractor’s entitlements to time and money!*  Click here for details.

A new half day course which concentrates on protecting the subbie’s entitlements by maintaining a regime of good notices and site records. Explains the main risks from main contractor’s damages, set off and contra charges, and how to protect against those risks! Will strengthen the subcontractor’s position when seeking extension of time, and payment for variations and claims.

This course covers the  formation of a contract, enquiry, tender, letter of intent, checking of the order, onerous terms and conditions, an overview of bonds and warranties, some typical “design problems” including “fitness for purpose”, payment problems, and an introduction to the Construction Act and the associated problems and benefits

Set at a basic level, a practical course which emphasises early identification of all problems, proactive flagging up of delays, keeping good site records and notices, minimising of risk and protection of the subcontractor’s entitlements to time and money.

NEC (ECC) Contract) Introduction/Workshop Click here for details.

A practical and “down to earth” introduction to this increasingly used form of contract, with its complex and onerous requirements for “early warning” and resolution of all problems – as a half day  overview to  Directors and senior managerial staff and/or as a full day pre-commencement “workshop” for project teams who have to administer these demanding rules. Includes a summary of the key changes in the July 2005 edition of NEC3.

Contract Law for Trade and Sub-contractors – “Practical guidance for the “real world  Click here for details.

This course concentrates on the pre-contract and contractual aspects, identifying risks, onerous clauses, formation of a contract, enquiry, tender, letters of intent, checking of the order, onerous clauses, “battle of the forms”. Also looks at damages, extension of time, variations and claims for loss and expense.

This course assumes no previous contractual knowledge and seeks to explain in very simple terms the origin and reasons for contracts, formation of a simple contract, enquiry, tender, letters of intent, checking of the order, onerous clauses, “battle of the forms”. Also looks briefly at the key headlines of the Construction Act and its relevance in getting paid.

         for all grades of staff involved in any way in contract administration. A half day or full day course.

 

Contractual workshop – securing entitlements to extension of time, variations and loss and expense Click here for details.

This “senior level” course concentrates on securing of entitlements to time and money  by reference to DOM/1, including detailed discussion and interactive exercises for identification, notification, preparation,  reimbursement and negotiation of “claims” for loss and expense, acceleration quotations,  extension of time and variations.

Construction Act 1996 and the “tricks and dodges” to look out for  Click here for details.

This course covers the basics of the Act with a very practical emphasis, including administration and payment of sub-subcontractors. Also highlights some of the “dirty tricks”  contained in the other party’s terms and conditions
